Effects of Sky Radiation on Surface Reflectance: Implications on The Derivation of LER from BRF for the Processing of Sentinel-4 Observations

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of sky radiation on surface reflectance products and the resulting derivation of Lambertian Equivalent Reflectance (LER) from Bidirectional Reflectance Factor (BRF), with particular implications for Sentinel-4 processing chains. The methodology and potential correction approaches are discussed using radiative transfer simulations.
